Striated Red Beryl Crystal on Matrix

VERY rare large red beryl crystal on matrix with striations, which were originally not believed to be possible in this mineral variety.  The exceptional size of this crystal may allow for independent faceting of a gemstone larger than one carat.  There is also a tiny sidecar on the bottom of the prism.  This specimen comes from the personal collection of Earle Foster, who owned the red beryl mine in Utah prior to and after the Kennecott Mining Company's operations.
